The cobbled streets of this medieval town are lined with stores selling the wines the region is known for. In the eighth century, emilion, a hermit, lived in a cave with an underground spring. Over the next 500 years, his cave was enlarged to create eglise Monolithe, one of France’s largest underground rock churches. Visit the cave and then take time to stop at some of the local vineyards, like the famous Château Franc Mayne or Chateau La Tour du Pin Figeac.
