The Capital City of this state is Mumbai, the biggest and the financial capital of India. It is located on the mid-west coast region of India.

There are six national parks and many reserves, including the Tadoba Tiger Reserve in the Maharashtra National Park. There are leopards, tigers, jungle cats, wild dogs, sloth bears, hyenas, cheetal, crocodile and many other exotic species here.

The Pench National Park is also a tiger sanctuary and got its fame from thw famous writer, Rudyard Kipling.

The Sanjay Gandhi National Park is located right within the city limits of Mumbai and gets over two million visitors each year. The tigers and lions are the main attractions here. There are also leopards in the park that occaisionally hunt outside the boundaries.

Mumbai ranks number four in the world for population with over tewnty and a half million people. Mumbai is also the wealthiest city in India. The city is made up of seven islands that were fishing towns in the beginning. In 1996 the name was changed from Bombay to Mumbai. Bollywood, in Mumbai is the capital of India’s entertainment industry.
