Tilaran

The village of Tilaran, which is also within a few hours of Fortuna, is located at 550 meters above sea level, five kilometers from Lago Arenal. The village marks the beginning of the 40- kilometerlong access road into the Monteverde region. Tilaran, however, is best known to both domestic and foreign visitors for its Fiesta de Dias Civicas, a famous rodeo and country fair, which is held every year on the last weekend of April. Tilaran's 10 hotels are almost always fully booked during the rodeo, and anyone who wants to attend should make reservations well in advance.
