Sleeping Giant

Near Kapaa is a mountain profile view of the sleeping giant. According to local legend, a giant named Puni lay down to rest near the banks of the Wailua River. Villagers from the area, frightened by the giant, tried to wake Puni and scare him away by throwing rocks at him. The rocks landed in his mouth and choked him to death. He still lies there today.
