Kaunolu Bay

Kaunolu Bay is on the southwestern tip of the island. This is the location of a deserted early Hawaiian village, once a thriving fishing community. Kaunolu is also the site of a heiau (temple) and place of refuge called “Halulu,” which was still in use between 1778 and 1810. Official archaeological work may be underway in this area. If so, do not disturb any workings underway.
