Oban
The tiny settlement of Oban on the shores of Halfmoon Bay is the base for all activities on the island. Near the ferry wharf the Visitors Information Centre can provide a list of all the accommodation possibilities as well as information on various walks. Of interest in Oban is the Rakiura Museum with its displays on the Maori and European history of the island and The Fernery, a craft shop and gallery set in a pleasant bush setting at the edge of town.
