Relive some of Rome’s long history when you visit ancient ruins of the Roman Empire and explore the treasures of the Vatican Museums. Day 1: Arrive Rome, Italy
Arrive in Rome, where you are met for your private transfer to your centrally located hotel.
The St. Regis Rome or Palazzo Manfredi
Day 2: Imperial Rome
Spend a half day with your local guide exploring the remnants of Imperial Rome. Begin at the Flavian Amphitheater, commonly known as the Colosseum, which once held 50,000 spectators who reveled in gladiatorial contests. Continue to the Roman Forum, containing the tomb of Romulus. Your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 3: Vatican City
Created as a result of the Lateran Treaty in 1929 between Pope Pius XI and the Italian government, the Vatican is the world,™s smallest independent state. Explore the treasures of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel with its famous frescoes by Michelangelo. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, erected over the tomb of the crucified St. Peter, who was thought to be the first pope. On the way back to your hotel, stop to briefly view the fortress of Castel Sant,™Angelo, built around AD 123 as the tomb for Emperor Hadrian and his family.
