Amanyara

Set on the beautiful island of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Amanyara is a secluded haven embracing the untrammelled elements of the Caribbean. Bordering the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marine National Park, acclaimed for some of the world’s best wall and reef diving, the resort draws its name from the Sanskrit-derived word for ‘peace’ and yara, the word for ‘place’ in the language of the Arawak Amerindians. Offering 40 timber-shingled Guest Pavilions tucked along the coast and a number of Aman Villas, the resort enjoys a contemporary layout and design, open to the sights and sounds of the turquoise sea.

Accommodations at Amanyara Luxury Resort

Pavilions – Amanyara offers 36 timber-shingled guest pavilions and two Two-Bedroom Pool Pavilion Suites.

All Pavilions have a combined bedroom and living room separated from the bathroom area by a decorative wooden screen. Arrival is via an entrance terrace featuring two daybeds, and the interior is revealed beyond sliding glass doors. A central king-size bed is joined by a writing desk, reading chair and an entertainment unit with flat-screen TV and CD/DVD player. The spacious bathroom features an elegant, freestanding bathtub, twin vanities and a rain shower. Dramatic overhanging rooflines shade terraces on three sides of each Pavilion. These outdoor areas are accessed through large glass doors which open to cooling sea breezes.

Villas at Amanyara Resort

Replicating the resort on a more intimate scale are Amanyara’s Aman Villas – each located on more than half a hectare (1½ acres) of lush terrain. The resort offers 20 distinct villas with three different outlooks: Tranquility Villas overlook reflection ponds and gardens, Ocean Villas are located on the coral bluff with ocean views, and Beach Villas offer direct beach access.

Designed to combine indoor and outdoor living, each Aman Villa is a series of elegant pavilions surrounding a black infinity-edged swimming pool framed by extensive hardwood decking. Each villa has three, four or five bedrooms, extensive living and dining areas, an outdoor dining sala and a kitchen. All offer outdoor showers. Villas are serviced by personal cooks and housekeepers who cater to guests’ every need. Villas come with two four-seater golf buggies, and guests enjoy access to all the resort’s facilities and services.

Dining at Amanyara Resort
The Restaurant provides a choice of dining settings. It is divided into two areas, one open to sea breezes and the other air-conditioned. The open setting leads down to a terrace with outdoor seating scattered beneath two large trees. Both areas have sweeping views of the ocean. The second area can be closed to provide air-conditioned dining in the hotter months, and also opens to an outdoor balcony that enjoys views across the central reflection pond. The menu focuses on classic Asian and modern Mediterranean dishes, with an emphasis on fresh seafood.

Bar
Beyond the Restaurant and leading to the swimming pool is the Bar. The structure is circular in design and features a soaring ceiling. It includes a central service bar with a number of oversized lounging daybeds on its perimeter. Leading from the Bar is a spacious terrace that provides informal dining throughout the day and more large lounging beds. Afternoon tea is served daily. The Bar is also the ideal venue for sipping exotic fruit cocktails or aperitifs while watching the sun set, or for enjoying an after-dinner cigar or nightcap.

Beach club
Located on a dune above the southern end of the sweeping 800-metre (2,625-foot) white-sand beach, the Beach Club provides a casual dining venue throughout the day and most evenings when in season. Guests can choose to sit in the elevated interior, at the bar, or on the lower terrace which leads to an expansive timber deck. Beyond lies the Nature Discovery Centre and a wooden pathway to the beach. A simple menu combines the flavours of Asia and the Mediterranean with casual beach fare, showcasing dishes fired in a stone hearth oven. Afternoon cooking demonstrations paired with wine or rum tastings are held several times a year.

Beach shop
Conveniently located near the beach, the Beach Shop offers a range of items including swimwear, beach accessories and sun care products.

Swimming pool
The swimming pool is surrounded by an expansive timber deck and sun loungers, with uninterrupted views of the ocean. Measuring 50 by 8 metres (164 by 26 feet), the pool is framed by two lounging salas which offer shallow entry to the pool. A third lounging sala is located beyond the pool and closer to the oceanfront.

Library
The Library offers a wide selection of coffee table books, along with travel guides, novels and reference materials. Newspapers, magazines, CDs, DVDs, board games and Internet access are also available. A reading terrace overlooks the central reflection pond.

Gallery
Adjacent to the Library is the Gallery which offers a selection of jewellery, art work, leather goods, resort wear and accessories.

Screening room
The multimedia Screening Room features 30 wide leather seats and is fully equipped with a DVD player, Cable TV, high-speed Internet and video/data projection capabilities.

Fitness centre
Overlooking the tennis courts, the Fitness Centre features a range of cardiovascular equipment and resistance training machines. Private sessions can be arranged with a personal trainer.

Pilates studio
As an extension to the Fitness Centre, a 375-square-foot studio provides group and private Pilates classes with a dedicated Pilates instructor.

Spa at Amanyara Resort
Bordering a tranquil pond, Amanyara’s spa and wellness facility offers four double treatment pavilions, a reception area, relaxation pavilion with spa boutique, 10-square metre (108-square feet) swimming pool lined with sun loungers, and an outdoor yoga sala.
Guests can choose from a variety of massages, wraps, scrubs, facials and beauty treatments, all of which may also be enjoyed in the privacy of guest pavilions or villas. A Master in Residence guides guests through the latest holistic healing practices, and private yoga, Pilates or meditation can be arranged.

Yoga
Regular complimentary morning yoga classes are offered.

Nature discovery centre
The Nature Discovery Centre provides an opportunity for both adults and children to learn more about the unparalleled marine environment and unique plants and animals of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Various programmes are on offer, created by Amanyara’s onsite naturalist together with teachers from the American Museum of Natural History’s Science and Nature Department. Tennis clubhouse
Four floodlit Har-tru clay tennis courts and one Youth Mini-Court are available, as well as indoor game activities such as table tennis, pool and shuffle board. Tennis racquets, balls and shoes are provided on a loan basis or can be purchased from the Tennis Shop. Lessons and game partners can easily be arranged.

Internet
Wireless broadband connections are available in all accommodations and the Library.
