Redding

Redding City is in a fabulous recreational region, close to Lassen National Park, Shasta and the Sacremento River.

Lassen Volcanic National Forest It takes approximately one hour to drive from one entrance of the park to the other, non-stop. It is a one-hour drive from Redding to the north entrance of the park, and a one-hour drive from Red Bluff (30 minutes south of Redding) to the south entrance of the park.

Mt. Shasta Mt. Shasta is a one hour drive north of Redding on

Interstate 5. At 14,161 feet tall, you can see Mt. Shasta as you drive up the valley, directly in front of you on the Interstate. (The mountain to the east of the valley is Lassen Peak). There are many hiking trails in the area, and guides are available to assist you.

Rafting on the Sacramento River A variety of rafting companies lead trips from April through September on your choice of six different rivers, including the Sacramento.

Restaurants There are hundreds of chain- and family-operated restaurants in the Redding area for you to enjoy. Everything from Italian, to Mexican, to Thai, and even Sushi! Popular travel stops like Dennys, and local favorites like Buz’s Crab.

Sacramento River Whiskeytown Lake, Redding’s Best Kept Secret, offers beautiful views, spectacular wildlife watching, camping, hiking, and, of course, fishing and boating. The lake is located just 15 minutes west of Redding on Hwy 299. Since Whiskeytown Lake is within the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, there is a fee to visit the lake. Guided kayaking tours and interactive talks await you!
