Accommodation Turtle Island Fiji is a private, remote exotic island—the ultimate vacation resort perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, weddings, or vow renewals.  Our 14 breath-taking private beaches accommodate just 28 guests at a time.  Each of our 14 cottages (called “bures”) are nestled along the famous “Blue Lagoon,” and are separated from each other by generous expanses, meaning you’ll have your own slice of exotic island paradise. The overall design and construction of our bures combine modern, eco-friendly building techniques with traditional Fijian craftsmanship.  Much of the timber was grown on Turtle Island, and many of the building materials are sourced from the Fiji Islands. Guests constantly reflect that Turtle’s vaulted, thatched ceilings are the most beautiful they have ever seen Dining Intimate and romantic dining in remote, private locations; breakfasts on your own private beach; open-air picnics; moonlight dinners by the seaside; meals under the stars by lantern light on a floating pontoon in the middle of the Blue Lagoon; fun-filled community dinners with the rest of the guests—Turtle Island creates dining experiences that you will never forget. Group dinner parties are held every night at several locations around the island, where you can linger for hours among new-found friends, and have stimulating conversations with guests and the Turtle family alike. After dinner, take in the talented, entertaining Fijians as they inspire you with local, favorite songs and dances. You’ll feast on delicacies like yellow fin tuna, succulent lobster, crab, tender Australian beef, sweet native fruits, and island-grown organic vegetables picked just that afternoon.  Fine French, Italian, Australian, New Zealand, and U.S. wines and champagnes are poured generously, and round out any of our fine foods. Weddings Imagine celebrating that special day in an exotic tropical setting; meeting your loved one on a white, sandy beach with a warm breeze stirring the air. On Turtle, weddings are special events, and some of our guests’ fondest memories are of the delightful Fijian wedding ceremonies held at sunset on the shores of the famous Blue Lagoon.The bride and groom may dress in traditional Fijian wedding attire made especially for them by the Turtle Island staff members. The cloth is tapa, made from tree bark and hand-painted with traditional Fijian symbols in tan, brown and black. All of the guests, along with the bride and groom, wear garlands of fresh, fragrant flowers around their necks. The trumpeting of conch shells announce the bride’s arrival on the wedding raft, called a billi billi. Drums beat ceremonial rhythms as the bride disembarks and is escorted to her groom by two Fijian attendants. As they approach the Fijian chapel, they are heralded by a Fijian choir. Activities Turtle Island is blessed with 14 white, powdery, pristine beaches. Some are adjacent to living and dining areas, and some are completely isolated, bounded by high cliffs or set within a cove. Your time here is your own. Stroll along your own private beach, wade in the turquoise waters, cruise on a sailboat, or experience the abundant sea life by snorkeling or scuba diving with one of our Fijian guides. It’s all included in the price of your vacation. Couples can reserve their own private beach for the day and enjoy their own exotic, romantic picnic luncheon with delicacies such as lobster and champagne—it’s your meal to create.
