Day 2: Fort William/Isle of Skye/Fort William
Your private driver-guide takes you along the Great Glen in the shadow of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Great Britain, to Loch Ness, the home of the fabled monster. Continue over the mountains to Glen Shiel, the valley that leads you to the West Coast. In Loch Duich, visit the romantic Eilean Donan Castle. Cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye, where you notice that the road signs are still in Gaelic. If the weather is good, you should have a fine view of the Cuillin Hills. At the Clan Donald Center, learn about the Gaelic heritage. Return to the mainland by the ferry and drive along the “Road to the Isles” toward Fort William. En route, pass the Glenfinnan monument, where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard.
