Day 2: Helsinki/Porvoo/Helsinki
Meet your guide and travel by private vehicle to Porvoo, Finland’s second oldest town and an active center of trade since the Middle Ages. Walk through the charming old section of town with its winding lanes and colored wooden houses. As you wander around, you may notice that many of Porvoo’s residents still speak Swedish rather than Finnish and they refer to their town as Borga. People come from all over the world to see the unique Old Town, where many aspects of the area have been left untouched by the passage of time. Stroll the narrow cobblestone streets and shop for souvenirs or explore on your own. Browse the small handicraft shops scattered along the lanes that sell pottery, rugs and handmade shawls. There are also several antique shops with interesting pieces. Explore the Historical Museum of Porvoo before returning to your hotel.
