Day 1 ~ Arrive Berlin:
Arrive in Berlin, Germany,™s lively capital city. Explore the city with your 48-hour Berlin Card, which allows unlimited access to travel on the city,™s public transportation systems and discounts to over 140 top attractions. Enjoy the eclectic architecture of the city, from modern museums to landmarks rebuilt from pre-war rubble or entirely new in steel and glass. (Accommodations, Berlin)
Day 2 ~ Berlin:
Depending on the day of the week or your interest, today you will participate in one of the four shared walking tours we offer in Berlin: (Breakfast & Accommodations, Berlin)
Famous Insiders Walking Tour – Take our Insiders famous walk tour and you’ll get to stand over the exact location of Hitler’s bunker, walk underneath the Brandenburg Gate, visit the government quarter with the Reichstag Parliament, pass through Checkpoint Charlie, touch the Berlin Wall and much more…
Cold War walking Tour – This tour follows the often ghost like trail of the Death-strip and Wall, retracing some of the more intriguing fortifications of its border from Guard Towers to tank traps.
Jewish Berlin Walking Tour – A unique and special history, from the days of the Enlightenment movement, through the horrors of the Holocaust, up to the revival of the present day, as Berlin fosters one of the world’s fastest-growing Jewish communities.
Third Reich Walking Tour – This tour goes to the main places of government and propaganda of Hitler in Berlin.
All begin at a central meeting place at 10am, and last 4 hrs. Afterward you are free to enjoy your afternoon, maybe find a special restaurant and enjoy Berlin’s cuisine.
Day 3 ~ Berlin:
Berliners not only survived the damage to their beloved city during World War II, they survived its postwar division as symbolized by the Berlin Wall. Using your Berlin Card, see the historic sights and memorial that remain today. Consider incorporating a trip to Museum Island, where you can visit famed Pergamon Museum and see the magnificent Pergamon Altar. Day 4 ~ Berlin to Nuremberg:
After breakfast, hop on the train and make your way to Nüremberg. Explore Old Town by foot, starting at the main market square in front of Our Lady,™s Church. Take in the impressive gothic churches, old city walls and fountains that lend a romantic atmosphere to the medieval center of town. (Breakfast, Berlin; Accommodations, Nuremberg)
Day 5 ~ Nuremberg:
Explore the historic treasures of Nüremberg, from the hillside imperial castle towering over the city, to Courtroom 600 where the Nüremberg trials were held. There are also many fine museums in Nüremberg coving a broad range of topics, pleasing a variety of visitors. Day 6 ~ Nuremberg to Munich:
Continue on to Munich by train. Rich in culture, architecture and historical landmarks, Munich has something for every visitor. Start exploring the city around Karlsplatz, where you can access
the pedestrian shopping zone that leads down to Marienplatz, Munich,™s central square. There are many sights in this area including the old city gates, the Glockenspiel, Munich,™s beautiful city hall and of course the Hofbräuhaus, Germany,™s most famous beer hall. Day 7 ~ Munich:
See more of Munich on your hop on-hop off city tour via double decker bus. Munich City Sightseeing – Circle Line Tour. Arrive on your own across the street from the central rail station to check in for your tour between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. Double decker buses depart every thirty minutes during summer months. (Redeem your voucher on the bus at any stop.) This is a fun way to see the city at your own pace, since you can leave or rejoin the tour as you wish. Take advantage of the ride and plan visits to some of Munich,™s renowned museums. Day 8 ~ Munich:
Your last day in Munich is free to enjoy and explore on your own. Wander through the quaint Viktualienmarkt (farmer,™s market just off the Marienplatz), with local food, crafts, beer gardens, and street vendors who will love haggling a good price with you. Perhaps you would enjoy one of our optional tours to the Bavarian countryside and see the famous castles, parks, or small quaint villages. Your evening and trip ends with a fine dinner in the famous Ratskeller Restaurant located right below the town hall on Marienplatz square. Dinner includes: Starter – pancake soup, Main dish – choice from pot roast, chicken breast or vegetarian ,“ dinner rolls included, and Dessert – apple fritters with walnut ice cream. Day 9 ~ Munich:
After your morning breakfast, depart Munich and on to your next adventure. Optional transfers are available to the train station or airport. (Breakfast, Munich)
Optional Munich Tour: Royal Castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof – Hidden in the seclusion of the mountains, King Ludwig II built two of his dream castles: Neuschwastein and Linderhof. This excursion shows you two extraordinary castles, both testifying to the vision of Bavaria’s fairytale King. Short shopping stop in Oberammergau. Approx. 4 hours time to visit Neuschwanstein and for lunch (not included). This tour also offers a comprehensive visit of Linderhof with its fantastic grotto and moorish pavillon. Castle entrance fees paid locally.
