El Palace Hotel

First opened in 1919 with a neo-classical façade and grand public areas, has been totally refurbished and opened again in late 2009 as a renovated grand luxury hotel. Considered Barcelona’s most iconic hotel for over 90 years, the works have preserved the classic spirit that has always characterized this luxury property, distinguished as a symbol of the hotel tradition and considered nowadays as the only Luxury Classic Hotel in the city. A new room design, a soft interior re-decoration of public areas and lounges and the realignment and optimization of the architectural infrastructure enhance the beauty, majesty and luxury of our Hotel like in the 20’s.

Location: Set in the heart of the city center, close to Paseo de Gracia and Las Ramblas and in the most prestigious shopping area, it is surrounded by boulevards, boutiques and main attractions like main Gaudi buildings and the Gothic Area. Well connected with all the public transportations in the city, it will take only 30minutes to arrive by car to the airport and 15minutes to the port (subject to traffic conditions).

Accommodation: The hotel reopened with 125 new luxury rooms, 42 of them being Suites and Junior Suites, fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology. They are all decorated with the elegant, renowned style of our own brand of classic luxury that predefines the hotel. Keeping original fire places and integrating modern electronic devices perfectly within the room, combined with the most contemporary style in the bathrooms which are decored with wengue stone or cream marble colours. Some of them can be connected for families stays, and adapted for handicapped people to fulfill all of our customers needs.

The original touch is found at our restored rooms with Roman Bath, which integrate the typical ancient Roman Baths decored with different colour mosaics and at the exclusive Presidential Salvador Dali Suite, where the designer Jaime Beristain has incorporated the refinement you expect from an establishment with the history and the prestige of El Palace. Being the Suite where the illustrious artist Salvador Dali lived, it offers 150 – 1615ft decored with delicately restored antiques, desks and ashlars from the Nineteenth Century, Chinnoisserie cupboard and silver objects belonging to the private and historic hotel’s collection. It has been the Suite for renowned personalities along the history.

Gastronomy: There is a wide gastronomic offer of the most outstanding quality, in line with the hotel’s values and which offers an international and delicious cuisine in intimate ambiences. The Caelis Restaurant (opened Tue-Sat), by Chef Romain Fornell and awarded with a Michelin Star is part of El Palace, with a full offer of top-class inventive food, inspired by French nouvelle cuisine and modern catalan food. Clients can also enjoy our 19/NINETEEN Restaurant, newly decorated in the style of a Parisian brasserie, for a delicious meal with plenty of organic choices and Mediterranean favourites. It is daily opened with continuous service all day long, and it is a must to taste the typical Spanish tapas menu as well as the elegant “typical British” afternoon tea. Located at the Hall of the hotel there is the emblematic cocktail bar Rien de Rien, opened from Tuesday until Saturday with refined cocktails offer and live music every night.

Mayan Spa: El Palace has launched the Mayan Luxury Spa and Fitness Room, a unique spa with a Temazcal Prehispanic Sauna, with domed structure emulating the womb and volcanic stones, exclusive in Europe. All the spa is inspired in the Maya Culture of Mexico, and it becomes the ideal place where body, mind and soul are blended together. Rituals, sounds and traditional Maya treatments are combined with the exclusive cosmethic of Anne Semonin making your experience an unforgettable moment. Dalí Room: named after world-renowned artist Salvador Dalí, who made El Palace Hotel his home during a period of his life, offers a
welcoming, refined space that is decorated mostly in a beige palette.
The Parrilla Room: Famous for its paintings, donated and painted by local artists – as a way of paying their bills.
