The Canary Islands are part of Spain and are located in the Atlantic Ocean about 90 miles off northern Africa. Tenerife is the biggest of the seven main islands in the archipelago. Other important islands are Grand Canaria, El Hierro, a natural reserve, La Gomera, La Palma, Fuertrventura Island was declared an important Biosphere reserve by UNESCO, and Lanzarote island.
The Canary Islands are beautiful with numerous natural attractions and the 3rd biggest volcano in the world, which is in the Teide National Park. This is a huge tourism destination when the weather gets cold in the northern hemisphere.
