The Experience
Departs: January/February and June through September are the best times. DAYS 1 & 2 Ngamba Island, Uganda Your flight arrives in Entebbe, Uganda. On arrival, you’ll meet your driver and transfer via road to Lake Victoria. From here you take a short speed boat ride across the lake to Ngamba Island Tented Camp. Ngamba Island is a Jane Goodall Institute sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees. One hundred acres of rainforest situated 23 km from Entebbe, near the equator in Lake Victoria, Uganda. It supports a rich diversity of natural wildlife and provides a variety of natural foods for the chimpanzees. The island is set up as an eco-friendly project with compost toilets, rainwater collection, proper waste management practices and solar energy (for electricity and hot water). An optional activity here is a Forest Walk with baby chimpanzees (please inquire about specific vaccinations and health requirements). This activity will continue until the chimps become too big to handle. Ngamba Island Tented Camp Includes: All meals & safari activities DAYS 3 5 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda After breakfast, you take the speed boat transfer back across Lake Victoria. On arrival, your guide will be waiting for you. You drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Gorilla Forest Camp. Gorilla Forest Camp is a permanent luxury tented camp nestled in the mist-swathed rainforests of a mountainside in the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The next morning, you depart camp, accompanied by two guides and four guards, and head out in search of the mountain gorillas. This optional activity is dependent upon available trekking permits. Please inquire early to make sure permits are available for your safari. Gorilla Forest Camp Includes: All meals, drinks (except premiums), laundry & safari activities DAYS 6 & 7 Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda Today you drive with your guide to Kabale Forest National Park. This scenic drive routes through Queen Elizabeth National Park and ends at Ndali Lodge. Perched on the rim of an extinct volcano which, since its demise, has filled with water to become the breathtaking Lake Nyinambuga – 250 acres in size and 130 meters deep, is Ndali Lodge, a family run working farm with beautiful views of the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. Ndali Lodge Includes: All meals & lodge activities DAY 8 Depart After breakfast, you depart with your guide for the long drive back to Entebbe. On arrival, you guide will take you to the Entebbe International Airport to meet your departure flight.
