The Experience
Located on what seems like the garden of eden, the Keikahanui Nuku Hiva Pearl Lodge on the island of Nuku Hiva is one of the nices properties in the Marquesas Islands. The resort overlooks a beautiful bay and the village of Taiohae. The easiest way and quickest means to arrive at the resort is by helicopter. The other option is to embark on a two hours 4X4 drive from the airport. This small resort offers deluxe as well as premium bungalows. All bungalows offer views of the bay and are handcrafted using local materials. The comfortable bungalows include modern amenities such as a mini-bar, air conditioning, telephone and television. The restaurant and bar are near the pool and just steps to a beautiful black sand beach. The restaurant serve local fare and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Ask the front desk for a schedule of excusions during your stay. Be sure to sign up for at least one tour lead by a Marquesan guide. Activities include horseback riding, biking,4X4, boat and helicopter tours. There is an amazing array of exotic fauna and flora, huanting archaeology sites as well as a diving center. Dive center staff offer daily diving trips. Divers are likely to see sharks, rays, orcas and more swimming along the reef. Excurions are not included, bring cash as credit cards are not accepted by local vendors and guides.
