The Experience

Aix-en-Provence

An enchanting town founded by the Roman Empire in 122 BC. It is also called Little Florence with over one hundred fountains spread throughout the historical centre of town. The city, which inspired Cesanne in many of his paintings, is 30 minutes drive from Marseille Airport Marignane; 3 hours by train from Paris Gare de Lyon to Aix TGV railway station; 1 1/2 hours drive from Nice Cote d’Azur Airport; 1 hour drive from Cannes; and 2 hour drive from Monaco.

This Italianate Villa from the XVIII century is perched on a hill just a short walk from the city center, and surrounded by an elegant Florentine garden. The hotel has 22 rooms and suites, each decorated to extravagant perfection in a “provincial boudoir fantasy” style.  All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, direct dialing, internet access and safe. Some rooms have private garden or terrace.

The Restaurant offers local Provencal, French and Mediterranean cuisine with a vast choice of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Provencal wines. In summer, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on the tree-lined terrace or the nearby pool; in winter, meals are served in intimate and elegant dining rooms with fireplaces. The Bar, with its cosy elegant atmosphere, offers an exquisite range of typically Provencal aperitif, Cognac, Armagnac and champagne.

Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, garden and car park.

In the capital of Provence (a city boasting more than 100 fountains), Villa Gallici, Member of Relais & Châteaux, is an Italianate masterpiece in the midst of a Florentine garden. Cézanne lived and painted here, and the villa itself dates back to the 18th century. Today, 22 guestrooms and suites outfitted in vibrant colors and comfortable furnishings cater to discerning guests, as does a renowned restaurant serving Provençal, French and Mediterranean specialties — ask to dine on the vine-trellised patio for a romantic rendezvous. From here, it’s just an hour’s drive to Cannes and two hours to Monaco, so be sure to get out and explore.
The hotel welcomes you to the Provence experience with a glass of local RinQuinQuin wine and an in-room tray with Calissons d’Aix candy and red roses.Distance from Marseille Airport (MRS): 19 mi/31 km
