The Experience

Inver Lodge

Set amid one of the last great unspoiled wildernesses in Europe, the Inver Lodge Hotel offers visitors a tranquil retreat of outstanding natural beauty. For anglers, walkers, bird-watchers or anyone who loves nature, a stay here gives you the opportunity to experience the spectacular natural environment while enjoying the luxurious facilities and excellent cuisine of one of the best hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

Atlantic seals in the harbour, golden eagles over the mountains, red deer on the moorland; leaping salmon and darting brown trout in the rivers and lochs. From its hillside setting, the hotel looks down onto the quiet fishing village of Lochinver, and across the clear waters of the loch to the distant outline of the Western Isles. With just 21 rooms, all enjoying the same spectacular view, the friendly, welcoming staff ensure that you have everything you need to make the most of your stay.

The roaring log fire is the focal point of the relaxing Foyer, where the guests come to enjoy afternoon tea, a quiet game of cards or after-dinner conversation before retiring for the night.  The Inver Lodge Hotel may seem like another world, but it is not difficult to reach! Regular flights between Inverness and London take just one and a half hours, a further two hours by car through beautiful Highlandscenery will bring you to our door…and the warmest of Scottish welcomes.

Canisp, Suilven, Assynt, Gillaroo… each of the comfortably appointed bedrooms are named after a nearby loch or mountain.  The generous proportions of the rooms allow for tasteful furnishings including six foot wide double beds or extra wide twin beds, a writing desk, dressing table, coffee table and easy chairs to relax and enjoy the view. Each room has a private bathroom with superior fittings and toiletries. A selection of teas, cafetiere coffee and other beverages making facilities are in the rooms, mini bar, Roberts radio, flat screen digital TV, trouser press, wireless Internet connection and direct dial telephone are offered in each room.  The four Superior Rooms provide added space to increase the comfort of your stay.  The enhanced facilities of two executive rooms – Canisp and Suilven offer a dining table and a sitting area along with views of the mountains and sea.  Our Iolaire Suite with its log fire has panoramic views over Loch Inver and the western sea.

We are delighted to announce that the legendary Albert Roux has taken over the kitchens at Inver Lodge.  Mr. Roux explains that he provides “Hearty country cooking using all the wonderful products from the sea, which is literally at the doorstep.”

The Assynt Hills are reported to be the oldest in Britain and contain some of the great mountains of the north such as Suilven, Canisp, Quinag and Ben More Assynt our nearest Munro, a walkers’ paradise, from the coast to high peaks. From Lochinver you can walk along the coast to Achmelvich and on to the split rock at Clachtol. The Old Man of Stoer is also a firm favourite along the coast.  The location of Lochinver is such that it is an ideal base for leisurely trips by car with a wide variety of interests amidst the most beautiful and remote scenery to be found in Scotland.  One of the loveliest trips undoubtedly is the coastal road northwards from Lochinver, surely one of the most beautiful by-ways in the world, passing the small beaches of Clachtoll and Clashnessie with the pure white sands surrounded by rocky coves.  Other activities include salmon and trout fishing, bird watching and stalking.  For relaxation, we offer massage and therapies.
