The Experience
Grand Hotel Stockholm
Rich in history and tradition, Grand Hotel Stockholm dates back more than 130 years and occupies prime position on the citys waterfront. A timeless classic, it has played a pivotal role in shaping Stockholm as the cosmopolitan city that it is today. The relationship between Grand Hotel and Stockholm is one that is symbiotic; both revel in their duality: traditional and forward looking, worldly and innocent.
One of Scandinavias leading luxury hotels, Grand Hotel Stockholm has borne witness to some of the worlds greatest achievements and to this day continues to makes its presence felt far beyond its shores. Since 1901, the Nobel Prize laureates and their families have all been guests of Grand Htel and the list of royalty, heads of state and artists who have stayed is impressive. Grand Hotel is located next to the National Museum and opposite the Royal Palace and Old Town. The Parliament buildings and Royal Opera House are within view, the best shopping district is but five minutes away and the docks for boats to the archipelago are situated just 25-metres from the hotel.
The Grand Hôtel offers 300 exclusive rooms out of which 40 are exquisite suites. The Princess Lilian Suite, measuring a huge 330 sqm and offering panoramic views over Stockholm, is the most spectacular of them all. The Flag Suite and Nobel Suite are both renowned, with astounding views from the 7th floor. All individually designed, each room has its own distinctive character and colorful history, ranging from traditional to contemporary in design. All our rooms offer complimentary entrance to Grand Hôtel’s Nordic Spa & Fitness with exclusive, soothing treatments, saunas, dipping pools and a separate fitness area for guests, complimentary high speed Internet access, LCD-TV, 35 different channels, including news, music, sports, movies and radio, bathroom with shower, bathtub, bathrobe and slippers, mini bar with a wide selection of beverages and snacks, safe deposit in room, complimentary morning newspaper, individually controlled air cooling and more.
Dining facilities include The Veranda, a popular meeting-place in Stockholm with a wonderful view over the harbor, Old Town and Royal Palace. The Veranda serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the year. The Cadier Bar is an international cocktail bar named after the founder Regis Cadier. In the relaxed environment, experienced bartenders serve drinks from every corner of the world. The Restaurant Mathias Dahlgren is an exclusive la carte restaurant which offers two different dining experiences which complement each other through the dual concept of Matsalen (The Dining Room) and Matbaren (The Food Bar). Matsalen is honoured with two stars and one star for Matbaren in the Michelin Guide 2012.
The hotels interiors are held to be of such great historical significance that they have been designated as a Swedish National Treasure, notably the Spegelsalen (Hall of Mirrors), Vintertradgrden (the Winter Garden) as well as a number of the other original function rooms. As such, the Grand Hotel consults the Swedish National Museum before embarking on refurbishment projects. In line with The Grands ever-evolving host of facilities, 2007 saw the opening of 4 new capacious state-of-the-art conference rooms in addition to the 20 historic meetings- and banqueting rooms.
