The Experience
Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort
Perched on a ridge overlooking the hills of Myanmar and Laos and the confluence of the Mekhong and Ruark rivers, Anantara Resort and Spa Golden Triangle is as enchanting as the region in which it’s located. Explore the surrounding forest on an elephant. Spend the day rejuvenating at the spa. Anantara’s deluxe accommodations and amenities ensure that every moment is perfectly memorable.
This 77-roomed upcountry retreat is something very special. Rooms offer Lanna silks, tribal cottons and teak furnishings along with large bathtubs and local crafts. There are 19 suites and 58 deluxe rooms, all with balconies overlooking the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos and offering exquisite views of rolling mountains, bamboo forests and glimpses of elephants – a landscape rich in Thai Lanna heritage. Rooms all have two-person sharing terrazzo tubs that can be opened up via sliding doors onto the bedroom. Suites have separate walk-in showers as well.
Cuisine is northern and traditional Thai along with tastes of the surrounding countries and international fusions. Start the day at Sala Mae Nam with an international buffet breakfast. Stop by for lunch, an afternoon snack or have dinner featuring the best of Northern Thai cuisine. A contemporary setting with rustic Thai accents, Baan Dahlia serves authentic Italian cuisine, which is complemented only by its extensive wine offerings from prominent vineyards around the globe. Baan Dahlia is a food and wine connoisseur’s delight. The Elephant Bar and Opium Terrace is great for when evening falls. Swap holiday adventure-stories over a glass of Thai Mekhong Whiskey. Anantara also has a Lanna Thai cooking school for the culinary-minded.
Float in the free-form infinity-edge pool looking down over the tree canopy towards the Mekhong River and up to the green hills of Myanmar and Laos. The fitness centre is fully equipped with treadmills, exercise bikes and weights equipment including free weights. There is also a tennis and squash court available to guests.
The spa offers serenity, balance and awakenings and our elephant camp, the opportunity to experience mahout life and make elephant friends. Mahout packages are available and include everything from ele driving lessons to ele trekking and bathing. Visit nearby hill tribe villages and ancient temples, and no stay is complete without a longtail boat ride down the mighty Mekhong River.
