For those of you that Would love to photograph tigers this is an extraordinary experience
As CEO of Travelwizard.com I often try out our tours to get a first hand experience to share with our customers. I have traveled to many places in Africa photographing the wildlife, especially the cat family, lions and leopards which were my favorites, however I recently traveled to India and went on a tiger safari to see if I could get some photos of these elusive cats and I was blown away by the experience. Here are a few photo’s I took:
We got up early and headed to Ranthambhore National Park in a jeep with a guide. After 6 hours of driving and photographing numerous species of wildlife we spotted a tiger across the valley about half a mile away. We were all thrilled to get a glimpse and photos, but the tiger was so far away it didn’t photograph well.
The next morning we left before dawn and headed out to where we saw the tiger the day before and parked. We were looking way across the valley where we saw the tiger the day before when we heard a noise behind us. I turned around and in the jungle about 100 feet away I saw a tiger heading our way, then another right behind him. Our guide readied for his rifle and motioned for us to be quiet and not to move. To my utter amazement, and heart pounding, the tigers walked right towards us, stopped for a bit, then walked by our jeep within 20 feet, looked at us for a couple minutes then strolled over to an ancient hunting stand that the maharajahs used a hundreds of years ago to hunt from with bows and arrows.
Talk about a thrill, whew! I managed to take about 50 pictures Tiger safari pictures. I also got some nice leopard photographs. I highly recommend this tiger safari tour as it was one of the most exciting adventures in my life!
